Norma was standing very, very quietly on the deck of the Pickled Heifer. The very, very, quietly was interupted by the arrival of Captain Bill.
'Have you seen that?' he exclaimed and pointed with his tail towards his cabin door.
In a manner approaching slow motion, Norma turned her head and looked.
'You know who's done that don't you!?' continued Captain Bill and Norma raised her eyes up to the rigging, turned a little pink and then opened her mouth to speak.
'One of King Otto's lot, that's who!' said Captain Bill and Norma closed her mouth again.
'And have you seen inside?' added Captain Bill. 'There are papers and maps and hats and things strewn all over the place! You can barely see the floor!'
'It was like that anyway!' called down Bertha from the Cows Nest, but Captain Bill ignored her.
'And another thing!' he mooed, 'There's a dirty great big scratch right down the side of the ship.'
'Well,' said Norma gingerly, 'I think that may have been from when we left King Otto's harbour.'
'Oh!' said Captain Bill, '.......did anybody notice?'
'I don't think so,' replied Norma, ' it was 3 o'clock in the morning.'
'Well, nothing like an early start,' said Captain Bill, who then turned and went back into his cabin.
'Nice to see everything back to normal then!' called down Bertha.
And Norma, very quietly, agreed that it was.
